Story of Jabez

This is the story of Israel. Jabez was born. His mother suffered a lot at the time of his birth. That pain may never have happened to her. Because of this, his mother named him Jabez. Jabez’s name means agony and pain.

Mother may have felt that if he has given so much pain at birth, then she will probably suffer even more because of Jabez. For this reason, he was named Jabez.

Time ran out and the Jabez grew up. Jabez also had brothers but Jabez was the most honest of them all. The special thing about Jabez was that he believed in God and prayed to him. Jabez would say to the God of Israel in his prayer, “Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!’ And God granted what he asked” (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Jabez’s prayer was heard by God and he blessed Jabez, God supported him and protected him from evil. He earned wealth and fame because he was a nobleman of God and had faith and love for God.

The name given by Jabez’s mother to him was completely opposite. Mother thought that he would torment everyone later but this did not happen.

God will surely show you the right path.
