Ruth and Naomi Bible Story for Kids

Elimelech and Naomi were spouses who lived in Bethlehem, Israel. Both had two sons, one of whom was named Mahlon and the other was Chilion. Due to the famine in Bethlehem, he left the place and settled in Moab, a nearby country. There the Mahlon married Ruth and Chilion married Orpah. Many years ago there lived a woman named Naomi in the country of Moab. She lived with her daughter-in-law Ruth and Orpah. Her husband and son had died.

Ruth was worried that both her daughters-in-law Ruth and Orpah were widows and they could not spend their entire lives like this, so one day Naomi says to Ruth and Orpah, “You are both very good and you Can’t live like a widow. Go to your parents and get married again. Start your life again. “

Orpah agreed to Naomi, but on the other hand, Ruth did not listen to her and insists on staying with Naomi.

At this point, Naomi tells Ruth, “What will you do here? I’m going back to Bethlehem. You can’t come with me.”

“Why can’t I come with you? I ask to be with you and go to Bethlehem with you,” Ruth begged Naomi.

Naomi told Ruth, “You are from the country of Moab and Bethlehem is in Israel, you have to live there as a foreigner. I don’t know how people will treat you. That’s why you can’t come with me there.”

Even after listening to Naomi, Ruth was not ready to oblige. She wanted to be with Naomi. Somehow Ruth convinces Naomi and both of them left for Bethlehem. Both of them travelled a long way and on the way, they also saw Mount Nebo from which Moses had seen the land of Canaan.

The employee replies to Boaz, “My lord, she is Ruth resident of Moab. She is the wife of the Mahlon(Ruth’s husband who was killed in Moab) and is the daughter-in-law of Naomi. She has left everything to accompany Naomi. And she is very honest who works diligently in the fields. You probably know Naomi better? “

“Yes, I know Naomi. She is my relative and Elimelech’s wife.” Boaz told his employee.

Boaz was delighted to know about Naomi. In such a situation, Boaz went to Ruth and started talking. Boaz asked her name. She told him that she can drink the water kept in the field and can work here without any trouble. Boaz also gave the loaves to Roth and Naomi to eat. Boaz was treating Ruthvery well.

Ruth worked in Boaz’s fields. She worked in the fields during the day and at night she stitched clothes for the poor.

People celebrate after harvesting crops all over the world and celebrate it like a festival in many places. The same celebration was also celebrated in Bethlehem.
