Dream of a Brahmin – Panchatantra Story in English. This story is of a Brahmin who used to go to people’s homes and recite pooja(Process of worshiping God in Hindu culture). One day he found a lot of sattu(roasted gram flour) in the offering. He was very happy to find that sattu. On his way home, he ate half the sattu and hung the remaining sattu in a pot.

After hanging the pot up, he fell asleep comfortably on the bed. As soon as he caught his eye, he started seeing different dreams.

He saw in his dream that he would take care of the remaining sattu and as soon as there will be a famine, the price of sattu would increase. Then he will sell those Sattu. After selling sattu, he will got a lot of money from it. From those money he will buy a goat. Then he will grow that goat. By growing that goat its value will increase and he would sell it and would got lots of money. From those money he will buy a cow.

He will take good care of the cow and earn more money by selling its milk. From those money earned he will buy buffalo and horses. By selling horses, he will earn a lot of money and buy gold from those money.

Then, as the price of gold increase, he will earn a lot of money by selling it. With that money, he will buy a lot of property and build a big house. After this, he will marry a beautiful girl.

After getting married, he will produce a child and will see her playing from a distance. When his child will cry he will shout loudly to his wife and say that she cannot take care of the child properly.

Seeing all this in the dream, he was very happy. He also saw that when his wife would be working and would not listen to him, he would get up and kick her. When he was dreaming, he lay down and spread his legs upwards. His leg straightened on the pot.

Due to this the pot fell down and broke. the whole sattu was ruined. When the Brahmin woke up, he saw that his entire dream was ruined.

Moral of The Story
